June 2011 saw the 2011 Local Government Conference, at Clifton in Bristol.
Friday saw a range of satellite events, including a Liberal Democrat "Group Leaders Day", and a training day for Liberal Democrat Council Group Researchers. In the evening Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Kirsty Williams AM addressed the annual LIberal Democrat Local Government Dinner.
Over 200 Lib Dem councillors and local activists from around the country attended the main conference on Saturday 18 June. Parliamentary speakers included the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg MP, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Simon Hughes MP and ministers Andrew Stunnel MP and Paul Burstow MP.
The day was a packed agenda of training sessions and policy workshops including councillor skills training (e.g. public speaking, time management and more) and campaigning training such as 'talking to voters' and 'building the team'.
